What is Dye Sublimation Printing?
Dye sublimation uses heat to transform solid dye into gas that permanently bonds with polyester fibers or specially coated hard surfaces. Unlike surface printing, the dye becomes part of the material — resulting in prints that never crack, peel, or fade.

Sublimation FAQ
Can sublimation print white?
No. Sublimation dyes are transparent — white comes from the substrate itself. This is why sublimation works best on white or light-colored products. For dark surfaces, use DTF or UV printing instead.
Is sublimation dishwasher safe?
Yes. Sublimated mugs and drinkware are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). The dye is permanently bonded to the polymer coating and will not fade, chip, or wash off.
Sublimation vs DTG — which is better?
Sublimation is better for polyester and hard goods. DTG is better for cotton apparel. Sublimation has zero hand feel and is permanent, while DTG offers softer prints on cotton but is limited to fabric.
Can sublimation be used on cotton?
Not effectively. Sublimation dye requires polyester fibers or polymer-coated surfaces to bond. On cotton, the dye washes out quickly. For cotton, use DTG or DTF printing.

Any product with a white/light polyester surface or polymer coating: mugs, phone cases, mousepads, keychains, ornaments, tumblers, coasters, polyester apparel, photo panels, puzzles, and more.
How do I prepare files for sublimation?
Provide a 300 DPI PNG or TIFF in RGB color mode. Your design must fill the entire printable area with at least 0.125" bleed on all edges. Do not use transparent backgrounds — sublimation needs full coverage.
